The 25th International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (25th ICTAM) has taken place from 22 to 27 August 2021, following the edition of the 24th ICTAM held in Montreal in August 2016.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the 25th ICTAM has been organized in a fully virtual format for the first time in the ICTAM history.

The Organization of 25th ICTAM-Virtual has been supported by AIMETA, the Italian Association of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and Università di Pavia, which provided the highly experienced and motivated Local Organizing Committee.

In spite of the big difficulties caused by the pandemic, the large participation and the smooth development of all online sessions have shown that the 25th ICTAM has been a great success. The success is also witnessed by the final numbers: 1740 registered participants, 1035 keynote and oral presentations, 388 short oral presentations with posters, 6 Mini-symposia, 46 Thematic Sessions, 16 Sectional lectures, 4 Plenary Lectures, 59 participating Countries.

25th ICTAM has been made possible thanks to the contributions of all participants, the great effort of Mini-symposia and Thematic Sessions co-Chairs, the continuous support of IUTAM and AIMETA Committees and Authorities, the professionality of all invited Lecturers, the great effort of the Local Organizing Committee and the enthusiastic group of young local Volunteers.

Thanks to the positive experience of 25th ICTAM that continued the long tradition of ICTAM, the whole IUTAM community can now devote its attention to the next 26th ICTAM 2024 to be organized in Daegu, Korea.

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I would like to express again my warmest thanks to all 25th ICTAM participants.

I really wish to see you all in presence in Daegu in 2024!

Alberto Corigliano

25th ICTAM President
