Sol R. Bodner

We announce with deep sadness that Sol R. Bodner, a former member of the Executive Committee of the Congress Committee (1992-2000), a member (1980-2003) and Member-at-Large (2004-2008) of the General Assembly of IUTAM, and one of the organizers of the 18th International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Haifa, Israel, in 1992, passed away on 29 October 2019. His research interests concerned complex material behavior including viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity, high strain-rate deformations, as well as creep and damage evolution. One of his major contributions was the development of the Bodner-Partom model of viscoplasticity. An obituary of Sol R.
