IUTAM values Diversity as a supporting principle for pursuing the objectives of IUTAM and maintaining the highest standards in all its activities. IUTAM understands Diversity as the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, gender, age, subject of expertise and geographic representation. IUTAM shall observe the basic policy of non-discrimination and affirm the rights of scientists to engage in international scientific activity without regard to race, religion, political philosophy, ethnic origin, citizenship, language, sex, disability or age.
The International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) was founded in 1946 as an international non-governmental non-profit scientific organisation. On 4 November 2022 it was incorporated as an Association with full legal status in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
